Storytellers & Leaders

Storytellers & Leaders: Games for Good is a leadership program designed for Black high school students who are passionate about storytelling and eager to make a difference in their communities. Activities will include an introduction to the fundamentals of game design, discussion of how games can help communities of color, and exploration of the unique contributions of Black game designers. Over the course of the program, participants will work together to create their own escape room-style game, which they’ll present to families and friends during a showcase event.
This program is completely FREE.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Students must identify as Black and/or African American
- be in high school, including rising 9th graders and spring 2026 graduates
- commit to attending at least 3 of 5 days of the program, and
- have parent/guardian consent to participate in research
Program Dates: June 15-19 12pm-4pm
Location: Hunt Library, NC State University
