Renata Halls-Gordon
Renata is originally from the island of Jamaica. Her research examines the experiences of international and immigrant students in higher education in the United States. Her dissertation explores the indicators of college persistence that are most salient to immigrant students from the English-speaking Caribbean.
Jaylene Patterson
Jaylene Patterson is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Psychology at the University of Kentucky. Her academic journey includes the acquisition of both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Kentucky in 2018 and 2019, respectively. She is passionately dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of marginalized student populations, employing sophisticated statistical methodologies to glean insights and address pertinent research questions in the field of education.
Alisa Sas
Alisa, born in Indonesia to an Indonesian and Dutch family, pursued her undergraduate education at the University of California Santa Cruz, where she double majored in Psychology and Neuroscience. Her academic journey, alongside her diverse cultural background, ignited her passion for racial and cultural inclusion, as well as equity in healthcare. Currently, she holds a leadership position at a biotechnology company. Alisa's experience as a woman in STEM has fueled her advocacy for women and underrepresented minorities to explore and excel in STEM careers. Alisa is excitedly preparing to begin her medical studies in the fall of 2024, aiming to further contribute to improving health access and equity in the field of healthcare as a physician
Mizuho Tatebayashi
Mizuho is a PhD student from Japan. Her academic interests revolve around psychology, intercultural communication, international education, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her current focus is on intercultural sensitivity development and how it relates to awareness of privilege and oppression especially for the privileged.
